When the grocery store closed in September 2019, Matt initiated and organized a meeting of concerned residents to talk about reversing the decline of Okanagan Falls. From those first meetings, the Okanagan Falls Community Association was formed to represent the community interests and needs.

Keeping OK Falls, OK Falls
When the Province's negotiations with the OIB threatened to change our name, our boundaries, and our parks, I was shut out of the room, same as the rest of you. I refused to stay quiet, and I helped push for the open house that finally made the Province listen to how upset this town really was. We kept our name. We kept our parks. We kept almost all of our boundary. I understand why some of you might feel differently now, knowing what we didn't know then — it was a genuinely bumpy road, and I never wanted credit for getting us through it. I wanted us to get through it together.
